Black Spruce Dog Sledding

Adopting an Alaskan Husky

They’re intelligent, loving, flexible, and eager to please. Alaskan Huskies can make wonderful pets! Some of our dogs retire when their athletic careers are over. Others will go to pet homes at a fairly young age because long distance racing just isn’t for them. Is an Alaskan Husky right for you?

Sled Dog Adoption
FAQ

Adoption fee is $200-$500. However, if you fly to Fairbanks to pick up your dog, we usually waive this fee. If you’ve flown here to get your dog, you’ve paid enough! We do not ship dogs as cargo.

All dogs will be spayed/neutered. This isn’t the place to find breeding stock for your own kennel. If you’re interested in purchasing a dog from us to be a sled dog, send us an email and let us know what you’re looking for.

Most adoptions happen in the spring and summer. Feel free to contact us at any time throughout the year! Just know that you may be waiting until spring or summer to take your dog home.

Not a good fit? We will happily take our dogs back at any time, for any reason. Please don’t be embarrassed to ask. Adoption fee refunds will be given within the first 6 months.

Send an email to find out which dogs are available for adoption, and tell us about yourself! Dogs are individuals, just like we are, so there are no “perfect homes.” Just perfect matches. Here are some of the things we will want to know about you.

  • What do you do for work? Are you a student? Military? Retired?
  • What does your average day look like?
  • Who else lives in your house or visits regularly?
  • If you don’t have young children at home now, do you plan to add any within the next 5 years?
